# [[Robert Adams]] #teachers [![](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/1d/Robert_Adams_-_Los_Angeles_-_early_1990s.jpg/220px-Robert_Adams_-_Los_Angeles_-_early_1990s.jpg)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Robert_Adams_-_Los_Angeles_-_early_1990s.jpg) **Robert Adams** (January 21, 1928 – March 2, 1997) was an American [Advaita](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-dualism "Non-dualism") teacher. In later life Adams held [satsang](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satsang "Satsang") with a small group of devotees in California.  He mainly advocated the path of [[Jnana Yoga]] with an emphasis on the practice of [self-enquiry](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-enquiry "Self-enquiry"). Adams' teachings were not well known in his lifetime, but have since been widely circulated amongst those investigating the philosophy of Advaita and by the Western devotees of Bhagavan [[RAI'S NOTES/Teachers/Sri Ramana Maharshi]].
